Battronics (Batt) was founded in 2017 in Zurich, Switzerland. Since then, it has expanded its businesses by creating offices in Osterburg, Germany, and Poznan, Poland. Batt specialised in battery tech and supply chain, and it summarises knowledge, creates Tech and Patent analysis reports, and gives detailed overviews about different technologies used in Li-ion, Na-ion, Zn-ion, and all-solid-state batteries ranging from different cathode chemistries to ageing analysis. Batt’s expertise spans a broad spectrum of applications including, for instance, technologies used in mining, refining, calcination, cell production and electric vehicles, demonstrating the practical relevance and potential of the knowledge it provides. Further, Batt has broad experience and a strong background in batteries, ageing analysis, chemical and physical characterization, modelling of batteries, project management, patent analysis, electrode preparation, synthesis, and import/export analysis.

Batt-DE will provide extensive coordination and management and a multi-layered contribution to the overall achievement of the MaaSiveTwin project. Batt-DE will continuously monitor and record achieved results and ensure the proper protection of the partners’ intellectual property. Additionally, it will curate a database of industry growth trends and generate market roadmaps for implementing sustainable battery value chains.
ElevenEs d.o.o.

ElevenEs (11Es), headquartered in Subotica, Serbia, was established as a trailblazer in LFP (Lithium Ferrum Phosphate) cathode battery technology within Europe, striving to position itself as an outstanding competitor among leading European energy storage solution providers.
Initially a spin-off of the “Al Pack Group,” 11Es was formally incorporated as an independent entity in Serbia in March 2022. The company has successfully transitioned LFP cell technology from laboratory scale to large-scale LFP blade cells by 2023 on a pilot line.
In April 2023, 11Es enhanced its operational framework by inaugurating a Mini Pilot research and development centre, complete with an administrative building. This facility, spanning 2,200m², is outfitted with advanced equipment for electrode manufacturing, cell assembly, cell formation, end-of-life testing, an R&D centre, and office spaces, solidifying the regular operational activities of 11Es.
At present, 11Es is engaged in the production of prismatic blade battery cell prototypes (A samples) for Electric Vehicles (EVs) and Energy Storage Systems (ESS). The company takes pride in being the inaugural European manufacturer of LFP prismatic battery cells, which are recognized for their enhanced sustainability and safety, contributing significantly to the EU Green Deal mission.
Future expansion plans include:
- The inauguration of a Megafactory in Q2 2025, which will boast a capacity of 1.5 GWh and facilitate the fully automated production of sample C and D cells on a grand scale.
- The launch of Gigafactory I in 2027, dedicated to the mass production of LFP cells with a capacity of 8 GWh.
- The establishment of Gigafactory II in 2028, aimed at mass-producing LFP cells with a capacity of 40 GWh.

11Es plays a crucial role in the MaaSiveTwin project, serving as a battery pilot line MaaS provider and early adopter of the platform. 11Es will contribute to data tracking, business and policy analysis, and simulation of transportation blockage scenarios. Additionally, it will explore stable sourcing of critical raw materials and test the twin for supply and pricing predictions.
Rock Tech Consulting GmbH

Rock Tech’s vision is to supply the electric vehicle and battery industry with sustainable, locally produced lithium, targeting a 100% recycling rate.
To ensure resilient supply chains, the company plans to build lithium converters at the doorstep of its customers, beginning with the Company’s proposed Lithium Hydroxide Converter in Guben, Brandenburg, Germany. The second Converter is planned to be built in Red Rock, Ontario, Canada. Rock Tech Lithium plans to source raw material from its own Georgia Lake spodumene project in the Thunder Bay Mining District of Ontario, Canada, and procure from other ESG-compliant mines. Ultimately, Rock Tech’s goal is to create a closed-loop lithium production system. Rock Tech has gathered one of the strongest teams in the industry to close the most pressing gap in the clean mobility story.
The Company has adopted strict environmental, social and governance standards and is developing a proprietary refining process to increase efficiency and sustainability further.

Rock Tech plays a vital role in the MaaSiveTwin project as a critical mineral refinery Maas (Manufacturing as a Service) specification provider and early adopter of the platform. It will contribute to data tracking for critical raw materials, specifically lithium, and conduct business and policy analysis. Additionally, Rock Tech is involved in result exploitation and simulation of scenarios to meet 2030 targets outlined in the EU Critical Raw Material Act. Rock Tech will explore resilient sourcing of critical raw materials and test the twin for supply, pricing, and alternative source predictions.

Batt-PL takes charge of developing the front-end and back-end systems for the MaaS Demonstrator. Batt-PL will collect, integrate, and structure primary data related to critical raw materials, lead CRM platform development and track global upstream market situations and supply chain events. Additionally, it will establish deterministic supply chain prediction models.
Technical University Hamburg

Hamburg University of Technology (TUHH) is a compact university with a clear research profile and modern, practice-oriented learning methods. Since its foundation in 1978, the guiding principle of developing “Technology for Humanity” has been a focal point of research, teaching and technology transfer. Aligned with the strategic initiative „Engineering to Face Climate Change“, scientists are working on topics such as energy efficiency, sustainable mobility, circular economy, climate-resilient construction, and the digital world. The campus, located in Hamburg-Harburg, has a young, creative, open, international and multicultural flair. TUHH offers 16 bachelor’s and 27 master’s degree programs that are organized in seven schools of study. In 2023, TUHH had 7,383 students, 104 professors, and around 802 academic employees.

The Resilient and Sustainable Operations and Supply Chain Management Group of TUHH brings in their expertise in the sustainability assessment of products with global supply chains. As the leader of work package 2, TUHH coordinates the supply chain tracking efforts of the project, covering activities from mining to the final product of critical raw materials, sudden events, and sustainability aspects. In addition, TUHH contributes to the development of indicators and models for sustainability and risk assessment.
Technical University Crete

The Technical University of Crete (TUC) was established on July 17th 1977, and is located in Chania on the Greek island of Crete. TUC is a small, young, dynamic University with a clear mission: to expand knowledge and benefit society through research integrated with education. In this endeavor, the pursuit of excellence is the driving force. More than 70 laboratories with prime equipment, high technology infrastructure and eminently qualified personnel, as well as 120 faculty and staff members with international academic backgrounds, attest to the level of excellence in education and research conducted at the University. This profile ranks the Technical University of Crete amongst the most prominent research institutions in Greece.

TUC’s role encompasses satellite-based image processing and machine learning for supply chain analysis. It will track mining progress using satellite images, fuse data for ML forecasting, and implement ML models into the MaaS demonstrator. TUC is the leader of work package 4 in supply-demand modelling for CRM value chains.
RTD Talos

RTD TALOS Ltd’s (RTD Talos) mission is to offer high-quality services with commitment and consistency, enhance and reinforce the competitiveness of Cypriot enterprises through the promotion of innovation, technology transfer, utilisation of research outcomes, development of links with research institutions, exploitation of opportunities for financing, and assistance in utilising development programs. The quality guarantee for all the projects undertaken is a fundamental concern of RTD Talos.

RTD Talos is the leader of Work Package 6 in communication, dissemination and exploitation. RTD Talos will apply its extensive experience in communicating, disseminating, and exploiting research results from various EU and nationally funded projects to maximise the MaaSiveTwin project’s outreach and impact.
Bern University of Applied Sciences

Bern University of Applied Sciences (BFH) is located in and around the city of Bern. It was founded in 1997 by regrouping 13 former specialised schools. About 7847 students are enrolled in 31 bachelor’s degree programmes, 26 master’s degree programmes and a variety of executive master, diploma and certificate of advanced studies programmes as well as seminars. Bern University of Applied Sciences fosters an active internationalisation policy and cooperates with many partner institutions within and beyond Europe in terms of teaching exchanges, research, and service delivery.
Research at universities of applied sciences is characterised by strong links between practice and teaching, collaboration with partners from business, society and culture, a broad spectrum of topics in projects that are often interdisciplinary, use of scientific methods, application of several types of research, including collaboration with universities. The research group Process Optimization in Manufacturing at the Institute for Intelligent Industrial Systems (I3S) aims at developing innovative, sustainable, and cost-efficient solutions for effective and intelligent industrial processes. One area of expertise of the group is battery production and its periphery. The group employs a combination of simulations and experiments to analyse and optimise complex systems. The other institute involved in the project is the Institute for Data Applications and Security IDAS. The research focus here is on data-centric applications with a strong focus on management, processing and visualisation of unstructured and semi-structured data.

BFH is the Work Package 3 (WP3) leader in digitalised supply-demand database for worldwide critical raw material value chain. Within the WP3, BFH will architect and implement the data infrastructure, build data crawlers and other data acquisition and processing functionality and generate relevant information for decision-making through visualisation cockpits. Furthermore, BFH will use discrete event simulation for stochastic modelling of the supply chain.
