MaaSiveTwin contributes to new paper on Europe’s battery raw materials value chains

10.09.2026

MaaSiveTwin has contributed to the new discussion paper Considerations for R&I Priorities in Europe’s Battery Raw Materials Chains, developed within the Cluster Hub “Materials for Batteries” together with BATRAW, LiCORNE, GR4FITE3 and RELiEF.

The paper brings together insights from EU-funded projects and stakeholders to examine some of the key barriers preventing European battery innovations from progressing from research to industrial-scale deployment. These include limited pilot and demonstration infrastructure, financing gaps, fragmented funding programmes, regulatory uncertainty, supply-chain vulnerabilities and challenges in technology transfer.

MaaSiveTwin contributed its perspective on the gap between R&I results and industrial requirements, highlighting the need for greater support for pilot and demonstration activities, SMEs and start-ups, stronger alignment between R&I and industrial deployment, and increased focus on green and resilient European supply chains.

The joint paper represents another step in MaaSiveTwin’s cooperation with complementary European initiatives through the Materials for Batteries Hub, supporting knowledge exchange and coordinated action towards more resilient and sustainable battery raw materials value chains.
