MaaSiveTwin Takes the Stage at ICARUS Webinar

10.12.2025

MaaSiveTwin joined the spotlight at the ICARUS Webinar, ‘From residue to resource: turning lithium aluminium silicate into value’ on December 10, 2025, in a session bringing together cutting-edge EU projects tackling sustainability from different angles.

Our project coordinator Dr. Susana Darma introduced the MaaSiveTwin project, highlighting its mission to develop a predictive digital twin for critical raw material supply chains. The project focuses on tracking and modelling global value chains for materials such as lithium, cobalt, and neodymium, integrating economic, environmental, and social factors.

By combining large-scale data collection with advanced modelling approaches, MaaSiveTwin aims to forecast supply–demand dynamics, identify potential bottlenecks, and simulate disruption scenarios. The goal is to support decision-makers with data-driven insights to strengthen the resilience and sustainability of raw material systems in Europe.

The session wasn’t short on innovation: Daniel Hiniesto presented ICARUS’ work on upcycling lithium residues into materials for construction and ceramics, while Roberto Arévalo introduced eLITHE’s low-carbon, electrified solutions for industrial processing. The discussion wrapped up with an engaging Q&A, where speakers exchanged insights on circular material flows, digital tools, and real-world applications. Overall, the webinar offered a dynamic snapshot of how collaborative research is driving the transition toward more sustainable, digitalised, and resource-efficient industries.
